Certified environmental management system
In addition to the quality management system meeting BS EN ISO 9001, the Dortmund-based maker of cable, lifting and lashing equipment now has a certified environmental management System that is certified to BS EN ISO 14001.
Since the quality and environmental policies are closely associated, the two systems are also linked together, and have been detailed in an “Integrated Management Manual”.
What’s the point of the environmental management system?
What at first looked just like another modern trend, has increasingly turned out to be an ecological and commercial necessity. Environmental protection, the frugal and proper handling of the resources employed, and the use of new, ecologically appropriate technologies are key elements in Dolezych’s quality policies and goals. Quality, clean production processes – and therefore a clean environment – are vital to a seriously operating company that also cares for the interests of future generations.
What does the environmental management system consist of?
The system has three pillars.
How do customers benefit from this?
Optimum materials input, efficient production processes and waste avoidance keep costs in check. Products can therefore be offered at fair and favourable prices in the future too.
Trained workers, a “zero fault strategy” and well-maintained, modern machines are what guarantees that the technology is always up-to-date, the quality is high, and therefore that short delivery times are achieved.
Why is the certification according to BS EN ISO 14001 and not the “EC Eco-audit”?
Certification to BS EN ISO 14001 is recognised globally. The “EC Eco-audit” is only valid within Europe, furthermore quantities consumed, quantities sold and environmental costs must be published, so making them available to non-involved third parties such as competitors or interested private persons. This so-called “annual environmental declaration” then has to be signed off by expert, although the contents do not have to be examined.
In addition, entry in an environmental site register managed by the CCI (Chamber of Commerce and Industry) is avoided. Dolezych is saving the costs that this causes, so underlining the company’s intention of continuing as economical supplier.
